Skunk Camp is a hard hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the North Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 3,370 feet to 8,146 feet over roughly 14.9 miles. The one-way gain is 4,573 feet. Horses are allowed on the trail, so it works for riders as well as hikers. The route is long and steep, and the high point sits well above the low point, so plan for a full day on foot or horseback. Nearby, Horse Creek Trail and Cottonwood Butte are both about 2 miles away, and the Lower Salmon River is about 2.7 miles off. Corn Creek Campground Complex, about 2.8 miles away, is the closest place to camp.
