Wagon Train Trail is a hard hike in the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia, managed by the Forest Service. The out-and-back route is about 9 miles long, with a one-way climb of roughly 1,250 feet from a start elevation of about 4,400 feet to a high point near 4,450 feet. The most comfortable stretch runs from June through September, when typical highs at a nearby weather station reach the mid-70s and lows sit in the 50s and 60s. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher reaches run cooler. Brasstown Bald lies just 0.1 mile away, and Arkaquah is about 2.6 miles off. A.T. Low Gap Shelter, about 6.6 miles away, offers camping, and Chatuge Lake, roughly 7.4 miles out, is a nearby fishing destination.
