Solitude Canyon is a climbing area in Arizona's Coconino National Forest, within the Flagstaff Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas and trails, with The Sailing Wall and Solitude Wall both about 0.1 mile away, and the Blue Dot Trail for mountain biking at a similar distance. The climbing here is a mix of bouldering and sport routes. There are nine routes in total, with six boulders and three sport climbs. The boulders run from V2 to V7, and the sport routes are graded from 5.10- to 5.11+. Some of the most notable boulders are Emerald Forest at V2, Hot Coffee at V5 and Bathtub Boulder Problem at V7. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from the nearby Ft Valley weather station, which sits about 500 feet below the canyon, show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, with fewer wet days than the summer months. Oldham, a hike about 0.4 mile away, offers a quick outing nearby. Little Elden Springs Horsecamp is about 3 miles off, and Lockett Meadow Campground and Walnut Creek are both within roughly 9 miles.
