Rolling Ridge is an easy out-and-back hike in Tennessee, about 1.1 miles from the town of Collegedale. The route is 2.5 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 113 feet, and it reaches a high point of 1,059 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 10 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Chattanooga show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar at about 74°F by day and 50°F at night. That station sits roughly 390 feet lower than the ridge, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Several other outings sit close by. Lookout Hill is just 0.1 mile away, and the Sabbath Trail and Oak Hole Lane are each about 0.2 mile off. Climbers can head to Goliath wall, about 0.7 mile away.
