Breakfast

Breakfast is a bouldering area in Pennsylvania, about a mile from Mount Gretna Heights. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Colflesh Boulder, Beautiful Day and Body Snap all within about a tenth of a mile. The name fits the setting: the routes here are short, and the boulders are the main draw. The climbing is all bouldering, with seven routes listed, and the grades run from V0 to V1. The easiest are Bacon, Homefries and Pancakes, all V0, while Green Eggs, Gumdrops and Ham are V1. The area is small and compact, so a visit can be a quick session on a single boulder or a few routes close together. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lebanon put May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock may run a little cooler. Other climbing is close by, with Colflesh Area about 0.1 mile away. Mountain bikers can head to Fraggle Rock Trail, about 0.3 mile off, and hikers have the Chautauqua Trail at about 1.2 miles.
