Section 3 is a climbing area in the Zigzag Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing and hiking destinations around Trillium Lake, about a mile from the town of Government Camp. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Trillium Lake Crag (Mosquito Butte) and Section 2 are both climbing areas about 0.1 mile away, and the Trillium Lake Loop hike starts just as close. For an overnight stay, Trillium Campground is about 0.4 mile off.
