Hunchback Wall

Hunchback Wall is a climbing area in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Zigzag Ranger District and on land managed as Clackamas County county property. It sits close to the Hunchback Trail #793 and the Bonanza Trail #786, making it an easy addition to a day of hiking or a longer trip through the forest. The climbing here is a mix of traditional and sport routes, with 12 trad routes and 5 sport routes among the 17 listed. Grades run from 5.6 up to 5.11. Some of the named routes include Meister Brau at 5.6, Slab to Crack Gully at 5.7 and Mirage at 5.9. The sport routes include New Sport Face 1 at 5.10- and Oasis at 5.10+. Summer is the driest and warmest time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Three Lynx put July and August highs in the upper 70s with only four or five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on 20 or more days. That station sits about 1,000 feet below the wall, so temperatures at the wall run cooler. Tollgate campground and Wildwood Recreation Site are both within about 2.5 miles. The Swine, also known as Enola Hill, is another climbing area about 2.6 miles away.
