Varney Creek Snomo is a hard out-and-back hike in the Klamath Ranger District of Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about 12 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 1,666 feet, and it reaches a high point of 5,213 feet. The trail starts at about 4,955 feet and ends at the same elevation, so the climb is roughly 833 feet one way. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Howard Prairie Dam show July and August highs around 79°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days. The trip takes about five hours. The High Lakes Trail #6200 and East Fourmile Lake both lie within a third of a mile, and Doe Point Campground is about 0.4 miles away. Aspen Point Campground is about 1.2 miles off.
