Tyler's Uphill Tie is a hard hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 12 miles long, with a total elevation gain of about 3,075 feet, and it is an out-and-back route that starts and ends at roughly 5,500 feet. The climb is steep, with the steepest stretch at about 1.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail, but horses are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sunriver weather station, which sits about 1,400 feet lower, show July highs around 84°F and lows near 41°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to the trail's higher elevation, so expect cooler temperatures on the route. The Dinah-Moe Humm mountain biking area and the Kiwa Butte hike both sit about 0.1 mile away. Tiddlywinks (Terrain Park) is about 1.2 miles off, and the Cougar Buttress climbing area is about 6 miles away.
