Swampy Lakes is a short, easy hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about a mile long, with a total climb of 108 feet, and it's an out-and-back that starts and ends at nearly the same elevation. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June through September. Typical averages from the nearby Wickiup Dam weather station show July and August highs in the low 80s with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and lows near 20. Several cross-country ski routes sit close by, including Beginners Loop about 0.1 mile away and Swampy Lakes Loop at 0.4 mile. Climbers can head to Cougar Buttress, about 3.3 miles off, and Three Creeks Lake Campground is roughly 7.8 miles away.
