Twin Lakes is an easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mount Hood Wilderness, within the Hood River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest. The trail is 2.5 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 657 feet, and it reaches a high point of 4,484 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is natural-surfaced and climbs steadily, with the steepest stretch at about 0.88 miles in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. The trip takes about an hour, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Lower Twin Lakeshore is 0.3 miles away, and Palmateer Point Trail is 0.8 miles away. Trillium Lake Campground and the White River, a canoeing route, are both about 3.3 miles off.
