Barlow Butte Trail #670 is an out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Hood River Ranger District. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and is rated expert, with a one-way elevation gain of 2,365 feet and a total round-trip gain of 4,892 feet. The route starts at about 4,181 feet and climbs to a high point of 5,178 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.68 miles in, where the grade reaches 42 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on 20 or more days. The trip takes about 5.5 hours. The PCT - Oregon Section G and Barlow Creek both lie within a mile. Trillium Lake Crag (Mosquito Butte) and the Trillium Lake Campground are about 3 miles away.
