Timber Lake is a short, easy hike in the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about 1.2 miles long and is an out-and-back that reaches a high point of 5,159 feet, with a total climb of about 85 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.3 miles in, with a grade of about 5 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Santiam Junction, which sits well below the trail, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to conditions on the trail, which sits higher. The hike takes about half an hour. Top Lake is about 0.3 miles away, and Red Lake Trail #719 is about 0.4 miles off. Camp Ten (Olallie) and the Olallie Lake Guard Station Cabin are both about 0.8 miles away.
