Old Growth is an easy, accessible hike in the Hood River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 2 miles long, with a low point of 3,191 feet and a high of 3,270 feet, and it rises about 76 feet from start to finish. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.86 miles in, with a grade of 9 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The trail is accessible, and two other hikes, Lakeshore and Old Skyline, sit about 0.2 miles away. Lost Lake campground is about 1.1 miles off, and the West Fork Hood River offers canoeing about 2.2 miles away.
