Lewis Loops is a 1.9-mile out-and-back hike in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon. The route gains about 287 feet one way, rising from 3,294 feet to 3,603 feet. It's a moderate hike on natural trail surfaces, and both horses and bikes are allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with only two or three wet days a month. That station sits about 964 feet lower, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February. The trail is open from June 1 to October 31, and the trip takes about an hour. The Caterpillar and Gyre hikes start just 0.1 mile away, and the Toothpick hike is about 0.3 mile off. For an overnight stay, Mt Ashland Campground is roughly 5.8 miles away.
