Dry Lake is a short, easy hike in the Zigzag Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about a mile long and sits at roughly 3,450 feet, with a front-loaded climb of about 150 feet one way to a high point of about 3,580 feet. The steepest stretch comes within the first tenth of a mile, with a grade of about 10 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Fir Tree is a hike about 0.8 miles away, and the Salmon River offers canoeing about a mile off. Trillium Lake Campground is about 3.6 miles away, and the Trillium Lake Crag (Mosquito Butte) climbing area is about 4 miles away.
