Cottonwood Meadows Trail #705 is a 2.1-mile moderate hike in the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.4 miles in. It rises from roughly 2,980 feet to about 4,040 feet, with a total gain of 1,134 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Horses are allowed on the trail. Lake Harriet Campground is less than a mile away, and Shellrock Creek is about 1.3 miles off. Rimrock Trail #704 and the Cottonwood Meadows hike both lie within about 2.4 miles.
