Southshore is a short, easy hike in the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about 6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 32 feet, and it follows a natural surface. It is an out-and-back trail, and the high point is about 3,257 feet, with the low point at about 3,231 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 69 to 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Pine Point Campground sits just 0.2 miles away, and the Timothy Lake hike is about 0.7 miles off. Hoodview Campground (Timothy Lake, OR) is about 0.8 miles away, and the Miller hike is about 2.1 miles away.
