Bonney Meadows Trail #471 is a moderate out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Hood River Ranger District. The trail is about 2 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 992 feet, and it reaches a high point of 3,511 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.3 miles in, with a grade of about 20 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The trip takes about an hour. The trail starts in the Forest Service's Hood River Ranger District, and the nearest town is Government Camp, about 7.5 miles away. The White River, a canoeing spot, is just 0.4 miles away, and Barlow Creek campground is under a mile off. Barlow Crossing campground and the Boulder Lake hike are both within about 2 miles.
