Boulder Lake Shore is an easy hike of about a mile on natural trail surface in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail sits at about 4,596 feet, with a slight climb of 12 feet over its course. The route is short and low-effort. It reaches its highest point at 4,596 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.15 miles from the start, where the grade reaches 13 percent. The trail starts at that high point and returns to it, so the total elevation gain is 12 feet one way. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At the nearby Government Camp weather station, typical July and August highs run about 69 to 70°F with only four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and frequent rain. Boulder Lake campground lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Forest Creek and Little Boulder hikes are both within about a mile. For time on the water, the White River offers canoeing about 2.6 miles off.
