Blodgett Staircase is a moderate out-and-back hike in Oregon's Siuslaw National Forest, within the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA. The trail is about a mile long, with a total elevation gain of roughly 1,800 feet, and the high point reaches about 1,490 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.8 miles in, where the grade reaches 28 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Corvallis show July and August highs in the low 80s with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on most days. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. The hike takes about 1.5 hours. Collarbone Alley and the Trail of Ferns are both within half a mile, and Marys Peak Campground is about 4.6 miles away.
