Bouldering

Victor is a bouldering area in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of climbing and hiking destinations, with Hilltop Drive just 0.1 mile away and King's Valley about 0.6 mile off. The Courthouse lies roughly 1.3 miles away, and the West Branch Ausable River, a paddling route, is about 6.7 miles away. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes spread across the V0- to V6 range. The easiest is Iron Wood at V0-, and the hardest is Walking with the Wounded at V6. Mark Meinrenken is the first ascender of several of these, including Ticket to Pound Town at V2 and Vision of the Victors at V5. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s.
