The Spider's Web is a climbing area in the Giant Mountain Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Lower Washbowl Cliffs just 0.1 mile away and Beer Walls and Upper Beer Wall each about 0.3 mile off. The area is a traditional climber's playground, with 31 routes, 29 of them trad and two mixed. Grades run from 5.8 up to 5.13c, and the median is 5.11. Arachne, a 5.12- trad route, and Wheelin N' Dealin, a 5.13c, are among the more advanced options. Dacker Cracker, a mixed route at 5.10c, is also here. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical July averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid run to a high of 74°F and a low of 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Nearby, the Nubble Trail and Washbowl Trail are both within half a mile, and Roaring Brook Trail and Henry Stimson Trail are each about 0.9 mile away.
