Bouldering

King's Valley is a bouldering area in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Victor and Hilltop Drive both about 0.6 miles away and The Courthouse about 0.7 miles off. The closest hiking is the Little Porter Mountain Trail, roughly 0.9 miles away. The area is a bouldering destination, with seven routes all rated on the V scale. The easiest is Stick Face at V0, and the hardest is Hippies and Angel Dust at V5-6. The routes run from V0 to V5-6, with most around V2. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Paddlers can find the West Branch Ausable River about 6.4 miles away.
