The trail is 0.88 miles long and gains about 914 feet, rising from roughly 2,108 feet to about 2,755 feet. The climb is most intense at the start, with a 31% grade at about 0.11 miles in. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the Washbowl Trail starts just 0.1 mile away. Climbers will find The Spider's Web and Lower Washbowl Cliffs about 0.3 mile off, and the Roaring Brook Trail lies about 0.9 mile away.
