Ragged Mountain is a climbing area in the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of trails and other climbing spots in the Adirondacks, and its routes range from trad climbs on the easier side to a sport route that reaches 5.12c. The climbing here is a mix of traditional and sport styles. Of the seven routes listed, six are trad and one is sport. The grades run from 5.3 up to 5.12c, with the hardest route, Super Slab, a sport climb. The trad routes include Stairway to Lichen at 5.3, Runnin' Ragged at 5.11d, and Invasive Species at 5.10b. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Newcomb show July highs around 77°F with lows near 53°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The closest nearby spots are The Branch, a canoeing route about 2 miles away, and Wolf Pond Trail, about 5 miles off. Frontiertown Crag, another climbing area, is roughly 7 miles away, and the Adirondacks climbing area is about 8 miles away.
