Chapel Pond Slab is a climbing area in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, with B: Chapel Pond Pass and Jewels and Gems each about 0.1 mile away and Tanager Face about 0.2 mile off. The King Wall is roughly 0.3 mile away. The area is a traditional climbing destination. Five routes are listed, all rated between 5.3 and 5.7 on the YDS scale. Bob's Knob Standard is the easiest at 5.3, and Thanksgiving is the hardest at 5.7. Empress and the Regular Route are both 5.5. All are traditional routes. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The S. Burns Weston Trail is about half a mile away, and the Nubble Trail, Washbowl Trail and Henry Stimson Trail are all within about a mile and a half.
