Leopold Loop is an easy, short hike in northern New Mexico, starting about 0.6 miles from the town of Casa Loma. The trail is 0.75 miles long, and the climb is modest: the low point is 6,992 feet and the high point is 7,154 feet, with a total gain of 148 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, while July and August run about 80 to 83°F with lows in the low 50s. The trip takes about half an hour. Rocky Ridge Trail and Meadow Trail both lie about 0.2 miles away, and Abbey Alley Trail is about 0.3 miles off. Climbers can find Ranger Station Wall roughly 3.3 miles from the trail.
