Gray Lake Trail is a mountain biking route in the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit of Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. It is about a mile from the Mt. Rose trailhead, which makes it an easy addition to a day spent exploring the surrounding area. The trail is an out-and-back that covers about 2 miles, with a total climb of roughly 1,560 feet. The route starts at about 8,400 feet and reaches a high point of about 9,177 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, with a grade of about 22% at around 0.4 miles in. Because the trail is rated hard, expect a significant climb on both the way up and the way back down. The Gray Lake Trail (Mt. Rose) trailhead sits just 0.2 miles away, and the Third Creek Trail and Gray Creek hikes are both within a mile. For an overnight stay, Mt. Rose Campground is about 2.5 miles off.
