Main Rock is a climbing area in the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The rock sits in the foothills close to Incline Village, with Trippy Rock and Butterscotch Slab (also known as Trippy #5) just 0.1 mile away. It's a small, compact crag with a cluster of sport routes and one mixed line, so climbers can pick a climb and get on it quickly. The climbing here ranges from the 5.5 grade on Tweedle Doo to the 5.11c on Smells like [Redacted], with most routes in the 5.9 to 5.11 range. Tweedle Dee is the mixed route at 5.5, and Roto Arete, a sport route at 5.9, was first ascended by Antu Cerretti and William Jones. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July and August highs reach about 76°F with lows near 50°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station in Incline Village. That station sits roughly 1,200 feet lower than the crag, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Winters are cold, with typical January highs around 41°F and lows near 24°F. Beyond the climbing, the Lunar and Incline Flume Trail hikes are within a mile, Mt. Rose Campground is about 3.5 miles away, and Lake Tahoe's North Shore fishing lies roughly 4.3 miles off.
