Gene's Trail is an easy 2.7-mile out-and-back hike on Bureau of Land Management land in the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office in Nevada. It's a short walk with a total elevation gain of 27 feet, rising from about 3,500 feet to 3,835 feet, so it works well as a quick outing or a warm-up before heading to the climbing and other trails that sit right around it. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 70°F in April to 75°F in October, while July and August average in the mid-90s. That station sits at a similar elevation to the trail, so temperatures here should run about the same. Stagehand Boulders and the Kraft Mountain Loop Trail are both about 0.1 mile away, and Monkey Bar Boulder is right alongside them. For an overnight stay, Red Rock Canyon Campground is roughly 2.6 miles off.
