Taylor Falls is a hard hike in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, part of the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest in Montana. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 7,250 feet to about 8,520 feet over roughly 9.4 miles. The one-way gain is 931 feet, and the route is rated hard. The trail is open to horses, and the surface is natural. The surrounding wilderness makes this a remote outing, so plan for a full day on foot. Several other hikes sit within a couple of miles, including Tumbledown, Tumble Basin and Lightning Creek. For an overnight stay, Wapiti Cabin is about 6.6 miles away.
