Tumbledown is a 6.1-mile out-and-back hike in Montana's Lee Metcalf Wilderness, part of the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The route starts at about 7,578 feet and climbs to a high point of 9,528 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,651 feet. The trail is rated hard. It is on natural surface and allows horses but not bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the hike is open year-round. Several other destinations sit within a few miles. Tumble Basin is 0.8 miles away and Taylor Falls is 1.4 miles away. Wapiti Cabin offers camping about 6.5 miles off, and Alp Creek is a hike roughly 3.5 miles away.
