Tumble Basin is an easy hike of about 1.2 miles in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, part of the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest in Montana. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a short out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 157 feet, from a low point of roughly 9,187 feet to a high of about 9,332 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so it works well for riders. Bikes are not permitted. Several other hikes sit close by. Tumbledown is under a mile away, and Taylor Falls is about 1.6 miles off. Lightning Creek and Alp Creek are both within about 4 miles.
