Marston is a hard hike on the Fortine Ranger District of the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana. The trail is an out-and-back route that gains about 5,000 feet from a low point around 3,160 feet to a high of about 7,022 feet, covering roughly 12.9 miles round trip. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from June 1 to October 31. The route is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, which makes it a versatile option for riders and packers. That means the same path can be used for a horseback ride or a mountain biking trip. Several other places sit close by. North Dickey Lake campground is about 1.6 miles away, and Martin Lake and Hagadore Lake are within a mile and a half. For paddling, the Stillwater River is about 5 miles off.
