Engle Peak is a short, looped hike of about a mile in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, part of the Cabinet Ranger District of Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana. The trail rises from a low point of about 6,570 feet to a high of about 7,560 feet, with a total elevation gain of 863 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, with no designated trail for bikes. The trip is estimated to take about half an hour, and the open season runs from June 1 to November 30. That makes summer and early fall the most comfortable times to go, when the weather is typically milder than in winter. Engle Lake lies about a mile away, and Wanless Lake is roughly 1.7 miles off. For an overnight stay, Lake Creek Campground is about 6.8 miles away, and the Ojibway Peak climbing area is about 4 miles away.
