Mirror Lake is a hard out-and-back hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the North Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The route runs about 7.9 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,238 feet from the low point at 7,430 feet to the high point at 8,716 feet. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the trail is natural-surface, with horses allowed and bicycles not. The trip is open year-round, so you can plan for any season. The trail's length and climb make it a serious outing, and the high point sits well above the starting level, so pace yourself for the full stretch. Several other hikes lie close by. Waterfall is about 1.7 miles away, Gant Ridge about 1.8 miles, Ship Island about 2.2 miles, and Harbor Lake about 2.6 miles.
