Spider Cave is a bouldering area in Connecticut, about 2.3 miles from the town of Colchester. It is a small climbing spot with three boulder problems, all of which are rated in the V9 to V11-12 range on the V scale. The routes are Rainman (V9), The Stowaway (V11-), and Cave Direct (V11-12), and all were first ascended by Neil Malloy. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Willimantic run to highs around 70°F in May and 74°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the cave, so temperatures here may run slightly cooler. Several other outdoor spots lie within a few miles. Starr Road, a mountain biking route, is about 3.4 miles away, and the Woodcutters Trail and Vista Trail are both about 4.4 miles off. Paddlers can reach the Salmon River, roughly 4.9 miles away.
