Hurd Park is a bouldering area in Connecticut, about 1.8 miles from the town of Higganum. It sits among a cluster of named boulders, with Pyramid Boulder, The Pyramid and Split Boulder all about 0.1 mile away. The park is a compact base for bouldering, with several routes close together. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes run from V0-1 up to V5-6. Rescue Route and Wasp Flake are the easiest, while Full Moon is the hardest. Campus Body Smear and Drunken Monkey fall in the middle of the range. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run from highs around 70°F in May to about 75°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. For a change from the rocks, the Scovill Southern Loop and Scovill Northern Loop hikes are each about a mile away. Higganum Creek, roughly 2 miles off, offers canoeing, and Shepherd's Nine campground is about 4 miles away.
