Orange Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 0.45 miles long and rising 212 feet from a starting point near 524 feet to a high of 682 feet. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.29 miles in, where the grade reaches 21 percent. The nearest town is Turkey Hill, about 2.2 miles away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, while July highs average about 84°F. That station sits roughly 580 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. Main Cliff, a climbing area, is just 0.3 miles away, and the White Trail and Blue-Yellow Trail are both within a mile. Paddlers can reach the Quinnipiac River about 2.9 miles off.
