Yellow Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.4 miles from the town of Highland. The trail is 0.88 miles long, and it rises from about 697 feet to 716 feet, with a total gain of 280 feet. The climb is back-loaded, meaning the steepest part comes early, with a 16% grade at about 0.11 miles in. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Red Trail is about half a mile away, and Berlin Land Trust Yellow Trail is about a mile off. Climbers can head to Chauncey Peak, about 1.1 miles away, and paddlers to the Quinnipiac River, roughly 6.7 miles away.
