Ditch Trail West is a short, easy cross-country ski route in Colorado, sitting just 0.3 miles from Crested Butte. The trail is nearly flat, with a high point of 8,966 feet and a low of 8,946 feet, and it totals about a third of a mile from start to finish. Winter is the natural season for this trail. Typical averages from the nearby Crested Butte weather station show January highs around 26°F with lows near -7°F, while July is the warmest month, with highs in the mid-70s and lows around 40°F. The trail makes a convenient addition to a day in Crested Butte. Ditch Trail East and the Cb Nordic Stadium are both about a tenth of a mile away. Climbers can head to The Hone Stone, roughly 1.7 miles off, and paddlers can reach the Slate River at about 1.8 miles.
