Cinder Cone Spur is a short, easy mountain biking route in California's Tahoe National Forest, within the Truckee Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is an out-and-back that starts and ends at nearly the same elevation, with a high point of 6,830 feet and a low of 6,794 feet. It covers about 0.28 miles, so it works well as a quick addition to a longer ride in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tahoe City show July highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F and only about one wet day in the month. That station sits roughly 600 feet below the route, so temperatures on the spur run a little cooler. Cinder Cone and S.S. Wallternate are both about 0.2 miles away, and Silver Creek-Truckee campground is about 1.7 miles off. Climbers can find Light Deprivation Buttress about 2.7 miles away.
