Tahoe Rim Trail (Painted Rock North) is a short, easy mountain biking route in California's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 1.1 miles long and rises roughly 312 feet from a low point of 7,360 feet to a high of 7,686 feet on an out-and-back route that covers about 2.3 miles round trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tahoe City show July highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F and only about one wet day in the month. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The Painted Rock South section of the Tahoe Rim Trail lies about 0.3 miles away, and the Painted Rock North route links easily with the rest of the Tahoe Rim Trail. For an overnight stay, Silver Creek-Truckee campground is about 1.6 miles off, and the Light Deprivation Buttress climbing area is about 2.1 miles away.
