Upper Missing Link is a short, moderate mountain biking route in California's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, managed by the Forest Service. The out-and-back ride covers about 0.9 miles with a roughly 200-foot elevation gain, rising from a low of about 7,187 feet to a high of about 7,413 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tahoe City show July highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F and only about one wet day in the month. That station sits roughly 1,200 feet below the route's high point, so temperatures up here run cooler. The Lower Missing Link and Cinder Cone both lie about 0.3 miles away. For an overnight stay, Silver Creek-Truckee campground is about 1.9 miles off, and Twin Crags offers climbing about 2.6 miles away.
