Deer Tower North Loop is a 3.6-mile moderate hike in the Buffalo Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total climb of about 1,568 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about mile 1, where the grade reaches 25 percent. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. The route starts and ends at a low point of about 830 feet and reaches a high of about 1,315 feet. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Deer, AR, run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, though that station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the loop run cooler.
