Summit Route is a short, easy hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in northern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back, about 0.4 miles one way, with a total round-trip length of roughly 0.8 miles and a one-way climb of 275 feet. The trail's surface is natural, and it rises from about 4,618 feet to about 4,915 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Oak Creek Canyon show October highs around 74°F with lows near 44°F, and May highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F. July is the warmest month there, with highs near 90°F. The Lizardhead Area climbing area and the Lizard Head mountain biking trail are both within a third of a mile. For camping, Chavez Crossing and Crescent Moon Ramada are about 3.6 miles away.
