Fisher is a hard hike of about 6 miles in the Mazatzal Wilderness, part of the Cave Creek Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 5,000 feet to roughly 6,500 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Pleasant Valley show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 9 to 10 a month. Shake Tree Trail #44 is about a mile away, and Brody Seep, Davenport and Gold Ridge are all within about 3.5 miles.
