Diamond is a moderate hike of about 4.2 miles in the Mesa Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of about 750 feet, rising from roughly 3,630 feet to about 4,330 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Payson show April highs around 72°F and October highs around 76°F, while July averages about 93°F and August brings the most wet days of the year. Bikes are allowed on the trail, and the surface is natural. Climbers will find Sycamore Wall about a mile away and Colony, The about 3.4 miles off. The Arizona Trail passes within about 6 miles, and Bartlett Flat campground is about 8 miles away.
