Hawdon

Hawdon was a small railroad community in Fort Bend County, Texas, operating under several names over its history — including Howden, Hawdon Junction, and Arcola. Situated between Juliff to the south and Arcola to the north, it served as a stop on the International–Great Northern Railroad's Columbia Branch. A rail switch at Hawdon linked the Sugar Land Railroad near the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church to House Junction, giving the settlement real logistical importance in the regional rail network.

Passenger service through Hawdon ended in 1920, though freight rail continued along the line into the 1980s. Today the community is effectively gone, and visitors will find little in the way of visible remains. The flat agricultural landscape of Fort Bend County surrounds the site, and the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church stands as a meaningful landmark near where the old rail switch once operated.
